for chemistry homework, what are the rules for naming each and why are they different. i already tried to answer but my teacher asked me to redo. please help!
摩我cules have their own name, like water, alcohol, ,ammonia, acetone.benzene. Alsrules for naming ionic compoundso hydrogen, nitrogen ,and chlorine gases, etc
Ionic substances have their systems where valence is indicated in some manner.
For example FeCl3, Iron III chloride.,or Ferric chloride FeCl2 Iron II Chloride or Ferrous chloride.
Some acidrules for naming ionic compoundss HClO hypochlorous acid, HClO2 Chlorous acid, HClO3 Chloric acid
HClO4 Perchloric acid, and lastly HCl Hydrochloric acid. It is not easy but there are different names for the same thing. I think that answers your question enough.
