Is there a good free alternative to Microsoft office, as I cannot be bothered trying to save up and get 2007 or 2010 and I dont want to get one of those bodgy free 2003 downloads on youtube.
I have heard of openoffice which is apparently pretty good.
Would anyone recommend it? Also is there a way that it can be installed without java as i dont want that memory hogging crap on my computer?
thanks
You can use Google Docs (no installation required).
OpenOffice is good and can be installed without Java but Java is required for graphics and image procesfree microsoft java downloadsing. It is loaded only when needed.
Yes, OpenOffice is exactly the perfect alternative to Microsoft Word, in which it has all of the essential features and has all of the programs that the Microsoft Family has making it a perfect choice by the most savvy computer users. Best of all it's free!, I've been using this program for about a year now after staying away from the $100+ price tag of Microsoft Office.
Good luck :)
LibreOffice
Well you better get that memory hogging Micro$oft Office then cause I'm pretty sure JAVA is needed to run OpenOffice anfree microsoft java downloadd LibreOffice as well!
Never heard of JAVA being memory hog before!
go to to get 2007 fully activated for FREE. It sounds too good to be true, but it really works. feel free to message me any questions or concerns.
You don't need to download OpenOffice.org or LibreOffice.
Microsoft now makes Office available for free on the web.
Microsoft Office Web Apps
Open office is quite good.
I don't know about the java bit though. I am doubtful it can be done though.
Docs.com is the best alternative
